was the ignition coil reading you got on the secondary side 8.4 Ohms ?
does your meter only have an Auto setting for reading Ohms ?
my meter has 4x Ohms settings- 200, 2000, 20,000 and 200,000
i measured the secondary side of the ignition coil so you have something to reference yours' against.
picture for reference only (it's a honda coil)
so to test the Secondary side of the coil, set your meter to 20,000 Ohms.
put one lead to the coil power terminal and the other lead from the meter to the wire inside the end of the coil lead (with cap unscrewed)
you should get a reading around 10.8K Ohms (10,800 Ohms)
now put one lead from the meter to the frame/coil earth, and the other from the meter to the wire inside the end of the coil lead.
you should get a reading around 5.4K Ohms (5400 Ohms)
and to test the primary side of the coil,
set your meter to 200 Ohms,
put one lead from the meter to the coil earth point.
put the other lead from the meter to the power terminal of the ignition coil.
you should get a reading around 2.2 Ohms
do you have a reading of the source coil from your stator ?
set it to 200 Ohms,
put one lead from the meter to the stator backing plate,
and the other lead from the meter to the wire at the end of the stator loom
mine reads 132 Ohms
