Well just went to pick up the new donk for this bike. Hopefully the guy keen on the 125 for $160 comes to get it next week, that means this only cost me $40. Its 1day old apparently so will need to be run in  uploadfromtaptalk1402636970196.jpg

It was in a scooter the guy broke the gearbox first day. It was given to a mechanic to fix. The mechanic went mia for a couple of yearsIts sat around for a couple of years, and the place we got it from its been sitting in a dusty corner for a while! Came with a brand new pipe too so we don't have to do any cut and shut anything!

hmmmm i doubt the hours.... just look at the wear marks on the ignition cover and top valve cover. at least it hasnt cost you a heap but i would be expecting to have to put a new piston and rings in it before to long....

Well you're right Nick...has a non standard oil drain hole and just noticed the shift star has a nice big crack in two spots!! Looks like I'm spending the weekend a Craigs...uploadfromtaptalk1402642836988.jpg

Craig just said anything with a slinger will fit! Were just doing the strator now...but he also said dev-con will fix it....looks like this....uploadfromtaptalk1402644737551.jpg

Hope it's trouble free for ya Stu! As GGCH said looks more than well used, how do you lose fins in a day's use?

the YX150 stu bought was replaced free under warranty,
so i guess most bikes shops wouldn't offer that for too long, might have been a week old, maybe 2 ?
but he didn't look after it too well,
the rear brake pedal had been hitting the bottom of the clutch cover, and a bit of water had got behind the stator cover
the gearbox selects gears fine, and the engine turns over nice.
the inside of the engine looks pretty clean and the head too.
the ports and valves look very good

i'm guessing they snapped the corners of the fins off for Carby clearance?

Its always fun with these old motors trying to figure out what happened to them! Yeah Tassy Stu ill pm you my new address next week, will dev-con up the hole! I don't really want to spend to much on it at the moment...has good compression! I'm thinking the fins may have been to fit a bigger carby...

I'm thinking my best bet is to get the lifan 150s adjustable strator on there so I can retard the timing a bit and hopefully stay away from kickback causing any problems!

sounds like a good plan, are the lifan rotors any lighter? i noticed the other day the stator on my gpx is heaps smaller than both the z160ho and daytona engines i have here, been thinking of putting it onto the z160 actually

the Lifan 150 Flywheels are a touch heavier than a YX160 Flywheel
my Z155HO has the same size flywheel as the Lifan 150 has

Yeah the lifan ones maybe lighter compared to both the yx and zho it looks smaller!

the JB Weld/Devcon is on now and setting, so should be good to go tomorrow

Cool except I changed the muffler over to fit the other pipe lol...this is the pipe I got with it pretty sure its what I need...needs a bit of cleaning up with the angle grinder the edges of the guard in some places are really sharp! uploadfromtaptalk1402653012395.jpg

Klx style port so no messing around hopefully its a straight fit.

If it was a scooter of some sort it probably had a silly frame in the way for the carby to fit under. so the fins went to fit close to the frame.
