Just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the atomik motox 125cc bike as just something for the Girls to ride around camp while the boys take off on some enduro loops, there not real expensive so I thought it might keep them entertained till we get back, i just dont want to end up working on the thing all weekend instead of being out on the trails:confused:

i would suggest getting out the spanners and the loctite before you go and give every thing a good tighten! and then just pray that nothing breaks whilst your up there. good luck with it.
im not sayin there bad bikes by saying that but every pit bike comes loose and things always break but then again there not the best pitbike on the market for sure but should be alrite 4 the girls to put around on cos i dont think they will be hittin jumps or anything or will they?

yeah
tighten everything and you shouldnt have much trouble if any
but as red demon said they arn't the best bike.

Thanks for the info, nup they wont be going hard, just cruising around camp, just out of interest what shakes loose on them?

when i say everything im not jokeing! just whatever you can get to or possibly loctite up eg:foot peg mounts, plastics, ENGINE BOLTS and if theres just any bolts you can see and get to easily its worth spending the extra couple of mins to do them aswell.

bought a motox for the girl for this reason (before i had a pitty) while mates and i were out on the full size bikes.
loctite is definately your friend! engine mounting bolts, exhaust, brake caliper, head set and swing arm mount are the most common i found so far and reoccurred with medium strength loctite but not so much with permanent.
then the boys and i got playing on it and the wheel base has now stretched by around two inches. note to self: do not jump single spine frame bike. oops!

Well ive got to say im impressed with these little chinese bikes, my brother bought a orion agb21 for his girl as well and we went over them with a fine tooth comb when we got them, through the chains in the bin cause they kept needing to be re adjusted every half an hour, fitted RK U ring chains which fixed that problem, and changed the oil for some decent stuff and the girls have been riding them every weekend since we got them and they even cop the odd thrash from us and they havent missed a beat, for the money and for a bike for the chicks to cruise around on I rate them pretty high :D

Well its been almost 12 months since we bought these things and they are still going strong, a bit of maintenance here and there and they really havent missed a beat, I know they dont get ridden real hard but for a young kid or the girls to ride I really rate these cheap bikes, I actually thought my now wife would have lost interest in riding by now so thats why I bought a cheap bike but she loves it and aside from the battery dying it has never had any problems

your a bloody lucky man then most of them would've broke but the girls are riding them thats why i guess, give it to me and lets see how long it'll last.

Mate I never said they are unbreakable all im getting at is there is no need to spend thousands of dollars on a bike that is never going to be ridden to its limits, personally I ride a ktm 525 and even bits break on it but I dont see a need to spend that sort of money for a young kid who will out grow it and need a bigger bike or for the girl who is only crusing around camp or going for short ride down a relativly smooth dirt road, Its horses for courses

they are good bike if you dont thash em i have the 2009 model lots of power good size and cheap

no hes not lucky, he just took care of his bike.. you see people that buy a china, ride it for a few months until it breaks and then complain and blackbook pitbikes all together. you just need to take of them, they are very tempramental.. people just thrash them and expect them to last, then when it breaks they go and cry,

good luck with the bike looks like its given your girls some enjoyment, and thats all that matters.

that's what i was gonna say... the big thing in this thread, is that he states the first thing they did, was rip the thing to bits, replace the crap parts straight up, loctite everything, and put some decent oil in it...
no good whinging you've just bought a bike, which you probably paid absolutely FA for to begin with, and you need to throw $100 at it in oil, chain and little bits and pieces. Go buy a brand new jap mxer.. first thing you do is spend $200 on decent chain and sprockets, $150 on a set of pro-tapers... $50 on expensive high quality oil after you've had it running for 15 mins... yep, those pitbikes are damned expensive to own... ha ha..
keywords here are INITIAL SET-UP and MAINTENANCE kiddies... i'd like to know how many of these "crap brand" pit bikes died through bad set up and maintenance... i've got a 4 year old orion 125... still running, no electrical problems, leccy start still works, carby run fine... funny what spending some time looking after your bike does eh?? ;)

well i have an atomik 250 prox and its fine, got it for a carton of beer =) people diss the cheap bikes but at the end of the day its a pit bike for a little fun.. unless your into the race side of pit bikes i say go a cheap china for a little fun..

please stop! you are making too much sense. you need to pay out on anything under $4000 and stop having so much fun for so little money.

Well people its been almost 5 years since we bought these bikes and guess what? They are still running fine, the only thing that has been done is regular maintenance, yeah sure in 5 years I have put 2 sets of wheel bearings in it and a set of steering head bearings and 2 batteries, yes the electric start still works fine, and I've put 3 new chain and sprocket sets on it but other than that it's just been oil changes, spark plugs because i can, keep the air filter clean and check and adjust the valves every now and then. Yes I know these bikes arnt being ridden as hard as some but hey they do get ridden fairly regularly, I actually wish it had an hour meter on it because we have taken these bikes away so many times I've lost count and there would have to be at least a 300 hundred hours on them, I even thought with regular maintenance the engines would be dead but they just keep going. Hey I'm impressed.

Thats a credit to your maintenance mate, Its a proven fact that you look after them they will look after you in the end, but you know now you have posted this something may break, touchwood and im glad you did a bump on this as the feedback in general on chinas is always needed, a couple of pics would be great mate, before and after in one post.

I should have taken some photos before I pulled it apart, it still looked like a stock atomik motox 125, as some of you might have read I'm about to buy my young bloke a pitsterpro LXR as he will ride it a lot harder than this bike gets ridden and I was thinking of updating my wifes bike aswell but I can't bring myself to get rid of the little atomik and my wife is more than happy with how it goes so I thought I'd give the atomik a birthday. I've got a set of fastace AS02 forks coming, a new DNM HRC rear shock, a billet CNC swingarm, pro taper bars and new grips, 1/4 turn throttle, DHZ fold back levers, bark busters, new plastics and stickers, a high seat, new Carlsbad tyres, new discs and a few bling bits, should be a pretty cool motox when I'm finished.
