A standard VLT is slow and if you knew anything about holden you would know that they haven't made there own engines since the toranas not including the VE. And other people saying that a VL isn't Australian what makes any other commodore Australian??? VN-VR have Buick motors in them. I'm not sure what vs-vz where running. Not dissing Vls, I own one lol ;)

The VS SS was the last commodore to run an Aussie built 308. Thats why the Vs's sound so much better.
The 29 is heaps bigger, When u gotta drain the fuel in the 21 so it can be laid on its side to get it in, a couple of inches makes a hell of a difference.

yeah but a VT is more likely to have less km on it and they have a better exhaust on them. :D

It will also be slower then a VS as it ways a lot more. And they are also known for not being able to do burnouts (6 cylinder). But get what you like. My favourite commodores are VLs, Vks, VYs and VZs.
 
it it was me id get the vy it should have less k's then a vt but ur descion
 
trust me they can do burnouts, especially with a mod chip in them, you just need to tune a few things up like the delay time from when you floor the throttle to when the motor revs.

well i haven't seen any vy sedans or wagons under 12 grand so i think it rules that model out, this is a first car so i ain't spending over 12 grand on it to later sell.
 
Your 1st car is likely to be thrashed trashed or crashed. Get something old to learn in. Ive pretty much killed my VL lol.

How true is that, and if your gunna sell it why bother spending a small fortune buying a vx body kit for it.
Do as motoluver said, buy a shitbox, for under a grand, thrash the living **** out of it, then it doesn't matter what it is, wagon, ute, sedan, throw the bike in the back seat if ya have to. Have a look at hillz's pics of his R32...lol. Not that I would have thrown a fiddy in the back seat of a skyline if I owned 1.
 
Just get what ever you like and then buy a cheap box trailer for like $400 bucks to put ya bike in. Putting bikes in a wagon sucks I reckon so I bought a brand new light weight trailer for $460 and it's so much easier than getting my bike in the wagon..and if you want to camp out in the bush you still have stacks of room for all ya crap.
 
nah vl's a bit to old, a like them but yeah they ain't a true holden,no way would ya be able to fit in a pit bike, they couldn't produce a powerful enough motor for that time. they look sweet with the supercharged v8's. especialy when the supercharger is sticking out of the bonnet.

no offence but wat do u mean bout them not bein able to produce a powerful motor for that time?. the nissan motors fly...rb30 3.0L Straight 6... not much more u can ask 4 :)....i no wat u mean bout the v8 vls... my mate put a lexus v8 in he's
 
Only one vehicle built to haul bike's around and that's the almighty HIACE van or the Vito for the well heeled!
You should only consider a Common-door 'WHEN' they build a good one.:D

Right on there, I got a hiace. A vito is similar $ but they are crap, a VW transporter is the nicest but give me a Toyota anyday.

They are also good for transporting mates around, camping (sleep in the back) and hauling your mini.
 
hey, we got a ford stationwagon and i fit mi bike in there easy, just fold down 2 of mi back seats, it fits with only 1 seat down but harder, don't hav 2 take handlebars off or anything.
we also got a 1964 VIP Chrysler Valiant, 318inch enigne and geez does it sound SWEET! gotta go through restoration tho, new paint, a few panels, interrior, trimming, seats and a few other bits and pieces. it has basicalyl new engine, it is 15 yrs old but only got like under 10,000ks on the engine (been sittin in the hsed for a LONG time) especially raising me, mi bro and sis. we r now gonna re-store it and hopefully done in a few years

I wouldnt touch a vl commodore nowadays they are just too old and are heaps overpriced. Everything off the motor is usually perished and stuff. and the interior.. have you ever seen that movie tron>?

If youre sure you want to go old and you know you're s*&t and dont mind getting hands dirty get a RB30 r31 skyline with less than 300,000kms on the clock and buy a mini carrier.

Other wise a VS wagon with a ecotec V6 with low kms. The auto in these seemed to be less prone to f^&king up and costing you $1500 to rebuild and then F%^king up again in 12 months and costing you $2000 to rebuild like in earlier model non - nissan engined dunnydores. And they have good economy.

If I was a young bloke i'd get an XF (41.lt) - XG (4.0lt injected) falcon station wagon and use that $2k gas rebate, Would be awesome for minis, travelling around, cheap to run and good for and scoring with chicks Hi five action! and assoicated good times.

Falcon also do way better skids than 6cyl dunnydores and dont break while doing it! You can argue with that but its just fact. Plus you can go down the wreckers and get a LSD rear axle for like $100. Try that with a commodore!

mrkev, cars aren't just about burnouts, geez, i've been in a porsche gt4, only 4 in australia and like the fastest car in the world. much cooler than burnouts, i asked him 2 do some tricks but he said if he crashed he would hav 2 sell our house 2 repair it, lol
 
Get an R31 :) cheap, NA, throw extractors and a 2.5 inch exaust on it, gut the cat, buy an XF throttle body, good fun, if you want the handling do an s13 conversion on it :D . Cheap, and enjoyable buttt if you REALLY want to go holden snare a VL :D
