Different types of Lifan engines .

my main worry is the clutch arm is at the front,Like the one on ebay you showed me.I just need to know if there is any difference of the one that has it at the very back

There are several types/variations of Lifan engines above 120 cc ! From what I've read - the yanks reckon the primary clutch (clutch up front on the crank = non kick start in gear) engines with the 20 mm countershaft have gearbox problems - possibly due to clutch drag from poorly adjusted clutches .

Engines with the clutch at the rear are called secondary clutch engines (clutch on the gearbox mainshaft = kick start in gear) and they are reported to be better engines .

4 up shifting transmissions are also claimed to shift much better than 1 down 3 up trannies . It's claimed that the 1 d 3 up's cop false neutrals on the downshifts and neutral is harder to find for some people .

There are primary clutch (non kick in gear) engines that are grey with the exact same big valve head and alloy finned cylinder as the grey kick in gear 125/127/138's and they have a 4 up shifting transmission . Maybe Mack or someone in the know who sells different types of Lifan engines can shed some light on how reliable the gearboxes are on these engines . :)
