Hi guys,

i was attempting to do my valve clearances for the first time, and took this thing off. what is it? and how do i get it back in? i'm trying to push in back in but it's not going all the way, feels to be spring loaded, do i just squash it back in? also is it supposed to face a certain way when going back in?

Thanks

Danny

thats your tensioner, if you take off the small bolt which is on the outside of the motor there should be a philips head under it, if you turn that, it will retract your tensioner, you have to hold it in that position to be able to bolt it back in.

ahh yep thanks for that. i've managed to get it back in.

i just finished doing the valve clearances for my first time, definitely not as hard as it's made out to be. they weren't far off from factory, but ive set them properly now.

yeah i know, i was just curious to see what it was. lol next time i'll be more wary of taking random things off

haha man, thats the best way to learn how stuff works.

yeah i know aye, for the past week or so that i've owned my pitty, i've literally spent a few hours every day just tinkering with stuff and getting it all set up sweet. didn't know a thing about them before i started, and have learn't so much.

but on a side note, thank god for this forum, it's given me the confidence to fiddle with my bike, knowing that if something does go wrong, i have someone to ask. also i've learn't pretty much everything off the tutorials on here

I was exactly the same as you mate and i'm sure so many others were as well. I have had my bike pulled down in pieces so many times i have lost count and have learnt so much. I was a bit hesitant at first but now i'm fixing stuff and tuning mates bikes. I have even fixed little tiny weld holes in my frames just so i know their perfect. Its easy to spend hours just going over everything hey, but at least you know its set up right and nothing can stuff up at least the things you can avoid anyway. There are so many guys on here just willing to help each other out. Getting on miniriders is like a daily ritual now. Good luck with ya bike and keep us update with mods i guarantee you will do a few of some sort.

yeah mods have already started! i've already put a did chain on it, protapers, better tyres and i've got an oko 26mm on the way! not to mention replacing a lot of the nuts and bolts to better quality ones just for some extra piece of mind

run longer bolts thru the rear sprocket so you can put nylock nuts on them, last thing you need is a bolt coming loose and hitting the swingarm destroying the hub and your day.

interesting idea, never even occurred to me, i'll get onto it!
