coudlnt the button ones be hooked up to some type or trgger either hydrulic or cable to engage and disingage it?

also where can i get one of those button type ones i would like to expieriment at home?

I reckon that idea would work with some welding and mucking around but there must be a better position that is heaps easier to do what about milling a flat through the fins near the spark plug and then coming in on a slightly different angle than that of the spark plug. dunno if that makes sense

how are the buttons actuated/ turned on mack?

I think your right, a flat spot milled into the fins near the plug is a spot i have stared at a bit. but I keep thinking nah,not enough room, you gotta slip between the stud and the plug and she'd be tight. You want to stay away from the plug as much as possible. But I think that spot will be the first tried.

All you do to operate these is depress the blue top. She stays in until combustion presure from firing forces it closed. Doesn't get any simpler.

Cool, Interesting and sounds to complicated for me. What bike do you have mack? Nice to see you back on the forum, you left for a little while hey? or is it just me? well i'm here 24-7 as you can see. haha goodluck with your little project and let us know how you got on.

Maybe if you get an old head and drill from the inside out in the direction you think best it might work. i can see what you mean by its restricted from the stud hole and the spark plug but from my understanding there should be just enough room.

also would you be able to drill a smaller hole for some of the length and then join the small hole up with the desired hole of the button thingy. dunno if it makes sense a should try an draw a diagram or sumthin.

Thats exactly how they are mounted with only a small hole going through to the combustion chamber. The larger hole 10mm only needs to be deep enough to seat the button into the head.

have you stared doing any drilling mack or installing or are you still thinking about the best place to put it?

I've got to get my hands on some stock heads to experiment with. All I have access to at the moment is a few Lifans and Ducars which are in running machines and I don't think the owners would be too pleased if I stuffed one up testing it out! I will have some stock heads to play with next month and will try then. That will give me time to make a jig for the correct angle and precise machining needed so that I can do them easily when needed.

I didn't like the button idea enough to try it yet. The problem can be controlled with cam timing and ignition timing, but is not the go if you want more bottom end. I have also been looking at the possibilty of fitting a BBR d-comp cam made for the klx/drz.
