Ok guys, this method has worked wonders for me. Never again did I ever have to feel opposed to this cumbersome chore regardess of what sticker material it is.
Slightly heat the sticker with a heat gun or hair dryer. Dont cook it up, just hot enough that you can still touch it without scalding your hand.
Slowly peel off the sticker and observe for any adhesive that continues to remain on the surface. When seeing that, stick back a bit and resume pulling slowly. More often than not, it comes off nicely. Depending on how patient you are, you can remove the entire sticker leaving absolutely no adhesive behind. Try going in one slow motion as stopping in between lengths results to stop points leaving at least a line of adhesive.
Now who says we all have the patience to go slow. So here's a next solution for any adhesive thats left. Pick up the discarded sticker material and dab on the adhesive left on the surface. Lo and behold, the adhesive gets back on the sticker. Do this as much as you can be patient enough. It pays its dividends as you will only have a few areas to finish off (done correctly, I mean just very little areas left, or even none at all).
Finish off with WD-40 or so I now learned reading above, eucalyptus oil. Do this even if you are confident you did a good job and had not left any adhesive. It just makes for a more confident margin in case some angles trick the eye.
Remember, never use WD-40 or any of your best solvents when there's still a lot of adhesive on. You'll merely melt it down and keep smearing the surface with a thinner film of gum, which will only make it all worse.
