Ok this has been annoying me for a while now when people are talking about "KLX" style frames..they are NOT a perimiter frame they are a spinal frame same as a CRF frame..
Plastics style those not indicate Frame type

Ok to reinterate
KLX/CRF = Spinal Frames ie bar over top of motor
ProX/C4/ProTDX = Perimiter Frame ie frame has to bars going over and around the motor

Everyone clear on this now?:D

"perimeter frames" are Twin spar frames and crf50 frames are single spar

cradle frames are a type of crf frame but have a 3 point engine mount instaed of a 2 point

Crf50 frames are commonly called cradle frames arnt they? not spinal frame etc.

Cradle frames are just frames with a "cradle", an extension that goes underneath the engine with more mounts to give more support and strength.

I havnt heard anyone refer to a klx style frame as a twin spar frame??

I have ,Ducar.r.spec told someone on chatbox the other night that a 140xr is a klx style bike with klx style plastics and a perimeter frame not a trellis style frame..Wrong..
140xr's have a klx style trellis frame, although there are plenty of bikes out there that use a perimeter frame with klx style plastics, only difference is the side plates are slightly different to fit the frame style.
Just as there are also plenty of bikes with perimeter frames that use crf style plastics.

am I missing something here?

Thats a pic of a genuine KLX110 and some info ripped from the Kawasaki website

Capable Chassis

The lightweight chassis uses a backbone tube frame of high-tensile steel tubing and a braced mono-shock swingarm. Up front, the 30mm forks offer plenty of travel and are gripped by a lightweight aluminium upper triple clamp for excellent feedback and control.

Now I am to presume we are also talking about a bike like the Pitpro 140XR, this is the frame it runs

neither are perimeter frames....

that is a spinal frame(or backbone if you wish), both 'spars' run over the motor, if in doubt look up the definition of perimiter in the dictionary

KLX or CRF are refeering to plastics
you can get either bike with either frame
like
1) CRF frame with cradle primeter or sprial
2)KLX frame primeter or cradle mount spiral

THEY REFER TO THE PLASTICS

what bikes with KLX style plastics have a perimeter frame ?

I'm pretty sure the fusion c4 moto is klx styled with a perimeter frame,I'll have to pay attention to the ad's on some of these pages to double check though.

EDIT: ^^^Yeah sure is just checked it out

i said that at the outset, also the orian/atomic Prox are KLX plastics with perimiter frame
Pitster pro 125X3R is an example of CRF plastics on a perimeter frame cant remember what it was (appart from a KLX 110) that was KLX plastics on a spinal frame but i know there is one

when people have been talking about there frames tho do you think that maybe they might have been talking about the geometry of the frame? for example
KLX mid size geometry as opposed to the smaller CRF50 geometry

no, because there are several different lengths in aftermarket and in china frames aswell as diferent fork rakes
