G'day guys,

Recently I bought a Lifan 140cc engine (CLICK HERE) for $237.50 including postage costs which I thought was a excellent price.

Anyways, I'm looking at put some mods on the engine and some bling to make it look good so I need some suggestions on what to put on it. Also, what oil should I put in it, where can I find a wiring diagram for it and what size exhaust fits the Lifan 140cc (1P55FMJ)?

All help will be greatly appreciated!

get a dress up kit

put a

I.R.K
oil slinger
32mm exhaust
26mm oko carby
akuna hi comp piston
akunar a1 or a2 cam
heavy duty clutch springs
and heavy duty valve springs

and you should be putting out 16 hp

and that will realy make you **** your pants lol

On my 140, it went from mild to wild (with big grins!) and all I did was:
stage 1: alum oil slinger
stage 2: OKO26 + inlet port matching + good air filter system.
stage 3: head port tidy up (with sand paper) + akunar A1 cam + akunar valves + springs (must use their springs with 6.7mm lift cam).

stage 1 + 2 (good carb and jetting) are an absolute must do.

All that was cheap and real easy. You need to grind an arc in the stock 140 piston to prevent the inlet valve getting bent. Easy with a dremel and the head off. Just need to cut out 1mm. I dug out 1.5mm to be safe. Make the cut out look like the stock cutout on the bottom of the crown for the exhaust valve.

The MSO SR already has the 32mm exhaust.
No IRK mod to mine.

I'd not advise a piston change. Options are not so simple with the 140. Also good to have a light piston. Just leave your piston in your cylinder after you've run the engine in.

Use Shell rimula-x diesel oil. very good. reasonably cheap.

Also, to go with your new engine, put some new oil in your forks, and give your shock to a suspension tuner and get them to put so good and heavy new shock oil in it. You'll probably be very happy with your bikes "new" legs. ;)

In your forks, assuming they are a simple design, put some 10 or 15wt fluid in them. Just keep adding until you cannot bottom the fork out when pushing by hand, then add about 20ml more, then test ride. You just want enough oil to prevent bottoming out on big hits. Motorex fork oil is good stuff. Use shell in your forks if you want to save some dollars since it's about $10 per liter instead of $25. You could also buy a liter of cheap 2.5wt fork oil to flush your forks out - only if you are keen.

Is you Lifan 140cc the same model as mine? If so, what oil have you got in the engine. I'm not going to worry about anything thing else on the bike yet, just the engine.;)

The two things circled are the only things I need besides a few other little things but I can't get my hands on them. They are called wiring harness and kill switch. If anyone knows where I can get those two electrical bits please post.

You can get them from ebay.

Before u start to mod the engine u should look into some good suspension coz that is the most important part of the overall ride and handling of any pitty. Theres no point making it a quick bike if u cant use all the power when on ruff terrain or cornering coz ur too busy tryin to stop the bike from bouncing everywhere. You will never regret buying decent suspension!

^^^copy on that one...ride the engine first see if you need more uuumpf and then decide what to get....but suspension is always the more importent part!! get +4" swinger ,a fox float and a DNM fork...makes a world of difference...aaaah and a cradle mount if you want to jump that thing

Hey themountain, does the fox float perform well and can it handle alot of punishment? Whats it like compared to Dnm?

G'day guys,

I got some two bolts/nuts but they were 10mm to short so the engine is just sitting on the crate with the frame on top of it with one bolt in one of the mounts.

Anyways, I've got a question about the oil cooler. I just wanted to know can I mount it on the frame like the photo below.

Or should I mount it on this way?

The problem with mounting a cooler over the engine is that it gets hotter due to the heat from the engine so it kinda defeats the purpose.

Are you talking about the first photo?

mate, make sure when this is all complete you get a video of you starting it and going for a ride, i wanna see what a 140cc is like in a frame like mine and a pitpro 110cc cause o the size differecne

The cooler has to be forward for the reason that I_Thump wrote. Plus the carb is where you are holding the cooler in the other position. If you are riding off road, you will need to extend your short front mud guard to keep the oil cooler clean and dent free.

Be sure to dump the Lifan transport oil in the case. Also be gentle on the gear shifts for at least the first 5 hrs of running. These china engines really need a run-in in the old fashion sense since the parts (cogs and bearings) need some time to smooth over and fit properly. Else you break big chunks of metal off all over the place.

Cheers numroe!

I'll get a video of me riding it etc.

you sure thats a pitpro 110cc frame cause they dont make pitpro 110cc with the "TRI" style swingarms

Yeh mate. 100% PitPro frame and 100% PitPro swingarm.

Also, what type of oil should I put in the engine?

motul 20w50 for 10 buks a litre from any bike store is fine

i think its called motul 1000 and theres motul 5100 which is 10w40

im after a frame and swingarm like yours where did you get it from

I bought a PitPro 110cc. Not just the frame and swingarm. Contach Pitpro. They might be able to set you up with the frame and swingarm like mine.
