nah mate the IT125's are no good, too hard to get parts for, how old ???? an IT what ?

mate if it's for an IT, i know where to find it, lol

but i will gladly take the bike off your hands if you want to chuck it out !!!!

oh yeah, forgot to add, + reps for owning an IT,
there are so many people that either haven't heard of them, or know of their abilitys
these bikes are awesome Enduro machines....

here is a video made by the owner of the YamahaIT forum, Jock, they hold events every now and then
i might even take my IT200 to an event

Mate I hope I get to show you this thing in action. It wil out hill climb anything. I've blown past full enduro ktms that got stuck half way up and I'm just cruising below band like its nothing. Thanks for help locating this stuff. It's gonna help me heaps. With these old bikes modifying guards is pretty standard lol what ever is in the shed will have to do.

I've just give her a partial strip down and rough lick of matt black around all the frame. Good result for fairly little effort

what do the it 200's go for when road ready? do the top ends last forever?

I don't really know about them sorry mate. I do know the 465 is an absolute animal and will chew thru gearboxes like a hungry gator

Cool it125, i have a it175f and it175g, they are awesome bikes. The f will start with 6 month old fuel first kick dead cold no matter what, got a real soft spot for the baby blue yammy enduros, also have a 92 dt200r(in blue of course). If you can find a late it200 rear guard they look alot more modern, but they seem to be pricey on ebay, got one on my g and its def more modern looking than the originals
zwebx the it200's are getting to be pricey these days and there weren't a huge amount of them sold, but the dt200r(or a wr200, better suspension) is pretty much what it evolved into, it gained watercooling and disc brakes front and rear, underated bike these days, slap on a procircuit pipe and rejet and it keeps neck to neck with my mates rmx250(just)

zwebx,
i paid $1700 for mine when i bought IT 3 or 4 years ago,
but IT had only done 10,000kms since new.
it needed a few little tidy up things done to IT.

i had it bored last year, (was still on it's standard bore), i took it out to the 2nd oversize.
cost me $50 for a rebore, and $140 for a new Wossner piston, rings, pin, bearing, clips and related gaskets etc
i still need to do another 100 kms till it is run in, was advised to put 2 full tanks of fuel through it before giving it full WOT.
the Yamaha service manual states it a bit different, (ready to race, after 1/2 hour run in using their procedure) but i'd like it to last me a while.

there are genuine piston kits available for 6 oversizes iirc ?

a IT200 recently sold on ebay in victoria for $1000 without rego.
they come up now and then, ebay, gumtree etc

I will keep an eye out for one, i want somthing cool to commute on thats supermoto style that does not have to be rebuilt every 100 hours like the ktm i want does... i was thinking a motovert rs 125 but there like 3 grand so i could get somthing thats old like this and get it up to scratch and have a better more reliable ride then the motovert for a similar price

I bought this off a mates brother for a carton of bundy cans. Motor wasn't running and he had a 175 head and barrel on it. A guy I was racing with told me he had 125 top end on its original bore. I gave 1 size oversize with wisco piston and fully rebuilt the gearbox and bottom end. I'm so glad I didn't go big on the bore. It runs so sweet the way it is

you gotta love the interweb too,
you can easily find so many New Old Stock parts.
even the rear brake rod, about halfway down the page.
http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=it125+nos&LH_PrefLoc=2

i always price the parts and write down the part numbers, for brand new genuine Yamaha parts from boats.net first to get an idea.
then i use varied wording/number searches for the parts i need.

with the rear brake rod you need,
i'd be looking and an old/used YZ125 rod or any YZ/IT brake rod and comparing them,
it would be easy to modify one to suit.
this guy sells a lot of quality repro stuff too, i have bought from him.

Yuni parts ebay store-

Engine frame and swinga got a blackout... Looks kinda neat

There's still heaps to do and I only quickly threw it back together. The pro tapers feel real nice on it
u7ebe4a3.jpg

The LXR guards on it are just absurd

that is looking better,
although seeing the china plastics on it still make my stomach churn !

I've spent a fair bit of time on this ol girl lately. I found that running a pod filter instead of the air box it runs super lean up top so I've tried to tune that out on the needle clip. I've dropped the clip to the bottom position and although its wheelstanding thru the gears in powerband it's still crackly at the very top of its revs. She definitely needs a bigger main jet. If anyone knows where to buy these Mikuni jets come at me. It's looking a lot neater now with new front & rear guard but I'm not happy with the end result so I'll be making changes there.

The front guard I hate and will be looking for a new one. The back one I modified to sit nicer. Then I started to grind off the old indicator brackets off the rear subframe which neatened up the appearance heaps

I'm happy with the look around the back now

the next real mission will be to sort out the suspension. But the best part has been the main reason I started this freshen up was teaching my daughter how to ride a bike with a clutch
by2eme6a.jpg

are you still running the standard main jet ? stock is a #200, and the optional is a #210
each size jet up will be in 10 increments, i would buy the next 2 jets up, from what you have now

i can get the jets if you need them, this shop is 5 minutes away from my place, then post them over to you if you need.
they also sell on ebay too.
one jet will cost you about $12, or cheaper for 2, about $16 the pair

yours look like this one, 4/042 in the middle of the page.

I used to race the 465 with YZ triple clamps and swingarm which pretty much made it a YZ465.
Yeah my girl was getting more confident cruising round in 2nd and the revs were getting higher so I pulled her in to explain powerband and chucked her on the back with me for a strap. After that she was more keen on 3rd gear hahaha might have scared her lol
