They do race to sell more.
Thats the only reason Ford and Holden as a company are both involved. To sell cars. No other reason. Company's dont back teams because they want to race cars. They do it as a form of advertisement.

Just to clarify, Bathurst fastest lap
The fastest lap was recorded by Button at 1:48.88 in a F1 (however not official)
the fastest official time is V8 Supercars: 2:08.4651 - Jamie Whincup (Ford BF Falcon)
as per Wiki. But yea the GTR's were fast and don't forget the Cosworths ;) Always funny to see 4cyl's beating 6's and 8's. But anyway... Bring on the Nissans, more competitors never hurts any sport :)

ford actually put very little into the v8s now almost to the point where they have just about pulled out, where holden give support to most of the holden teams ford only support fpr, thats why the vodaphone team went to holden

This is very true mate and the reason ford are slowly pulling out is because they are not selling many cars so budgets have to be cut

They have decided (so i read) to invest more back into rally and also into F1. Nothing to do with lower sales.

When Ford pulled there (majority of) sponsorship, i stopped following the V8's.
