Everything i've read about the Atomik Blitz 250 says that they are a real bitch to start if the fuel is "old". I've had fuel in the tank for approx a month and you guessed it the damm bike will not fire. Just how long fuel good for?

1 month should be ok. If your worried you can always just drain the tank and put some fresh fuel in to try because its not like you got a 50l tank but I dont think the fuel is your problem.

Thanks, I thought as much. I shall give it a bit of Start u bastard and see if it will fire. The plug appears to be fine as I can see a spark. This ones got me as it was running about a month ago

Seems to be, When I drained all the fuel it seemed to flow no worries, When I take the spark plug out there appears to be fuel going by the smell. I shall replace the plug with a new one and see what happens. Thanks

when you drained the fuel wat colour was it? good fuel should be nearly clear.. sht fuel will have a brownish look to it and shell different

Where you getting fuel from??? my juice is either dark reddish maroon to a browish colour for premium..

Did you drain the Fuel out of the Carby as well? Thats where your problem will most likely be! Shouldnt be Spark Plug if your last ride was only about a month ago?

Ive found if Fuel is in my Carby for longer than 2 weeks it goes off...and its a pain trying to start it like that.

So what I do is loosen the screw at the Craby for the fuel to flow out with the Fuel tap ON for a fair while...and if you dont have much fuel in the tank best off to drain it all out.

Put some fresh fuel in and let it run through the carby and out as well....to kind of clean out any old fuel that might be still in thre...then tighten the Screw at the Carby and try and kick her Over!

Hope that Helps

good point considering there would only be a couple ml of fuel in the carby itself it wouldnt last long at all although a few good kicks should see it thrown out the exhaust

fuel in australia, and all over the world, has dyes in it to differentiate it for tax and practical purposes. IE regular unleaded has a purpleish dye and premium has a yellowish dye. each company will have a slightly different colour dye for traceability purposes.

in agricultural regions, we have summer diesel, and winter diesel. they are different colours too.

cheers.

westy.

bingo...

i use 98 octane and its virtually clear..

but the main point i was trying to get across is that bad fuel will be alot different in colour...

as said above, drain the fuel bowl with the fuel tap on and just watch the colour change..

very true. old stale fuel will deteriorate in colour. will just about always get darker no mater wat colour it is to start with. will also start to loose its smell. so if you have a fresh jerry can, just have a quick wiff and then smell the stuff out of your carby. but stop doing this if you start to hang out around petrol stations asking for some spare change with an empty coke bottle in a paper bag.

if you have a couple of glass jars this would be the easiest way. just colour match them.
