I was wondering how necessary a chain guard is, on my pit pro i have a red anodized chain guard and personally i think it looks rubbish so want to take it off...

How important is a chain guard and would i be able to take it off without experiencing any problems (chain falling off etc)....?

well its acts as more of a guide then guard, if your riding and something hits the chain then it wont come off...
without one your asking for trouble...

they dont put these things on for no reason

they dont put these things on for no reason

i realise this and thats why i asked but as im just cruising around my girlfriends property at the moment and doing nothing to rough (jumps, bush etc) just wondering if there is any real danger in taking it offf....

I have noticed other pit bikes and they dont have a chain guard....

spraypaint it black, $4 for a can of paint and you won't have to worry about the chain coming off and doing all sorts of damage to your engine. do you still wanna swap those chain adjusters?

I took mine off my vert 140 but as sean says, its asking for trouble :p

what sorta trouble? ive never had a chain come off... unless it was ridiculously loose... or a link snapped, or the sprockets are starting to resemble pulleys....

not everyone has the same "chain-nous" as you though headsmess... seen some real "winner" chain tensions running out there... me, yeah, never thrown a chain either... but then i actually believe and understand the concept of bike maintenance...

actually, there was a time on the old bmx with the bent cranks.... ten years later, my kneecap loves reminding me about it :p and, strangely, my dentist...

so much for 300 dollar 3 piece cranks being unbendable...
