I have been checking this place out for awhile now. Working away on my postie project. Got the motor in! Goes so freakin well!

Anyway thought it was time to put some pictures up.

My phone sucks but I am hoping to get some better pictures with a friends camera. The postie frame is pretty cool when you rip off all the junk parts. Old School.

Things done so far :

= Swapped out old Honda Lump for 125cc Lifan
= Ditched honda carb for the usual Mikumi and pod
= Went to wide bars and ditched the ugly Honda ones
= All new grips and controls
= Total re-loom
= New chain and sprockets
= Total repaint in a BRG that fades from the black to Green

Things to be done :
= Put it all back together again
= Touch up a few spots of bad paint
= Sort out the IRK + Lights
= Braid / Hide all the loom and cover braided loom parts in clear tube
= Port the manifold
= Change the exhaust to something cool
= Fit the wide tank and get rid of the awful seat tank
= Fit a proper fuel gauge
= Fit up the chromed indicator lights and head light

I am hoping to have it all done by October so I can ride it to the motoGP !

Cool. Wish i had time and money to do things like that. ( oh and knowledge)

should get rid of the stock pipe and put a big bore one on ther. bike looks mad man well done

Why a Lifan

1. The Honda lump is heavy.
2. Automatic box in it sucks.
3. Rebuild honda motor would cost about 400.00$.
4. The Lifan cost 256.00$.
5. Don't think I could squeeze the IRK in to the Honda.
5. When the Lifan explodes I wont cry I will just buy another BIGGER ONE!
6. IT GOES FASTER. MUCH MUCH MUCH FASTER.

Am having trouble getting it to start though :|

postie engine isnt that slow its just that the bike is heavy, i got rid of everything it didnt need plus cut the rear fender and replaced the front fender and its easily 20 kg lighter, ive yet to be beaten by the dirtbikes that cruise around here on mine.

Postie bike motor is engineered to last forever but the head design is an obstructed mess and I despise the automatic gear box in it. A whole lot of things I don't like about it actually.

Throwing oil all over the Stator/Rotor is a stupid idea. So is putting the rotor on backwards.

The more I look at the insides of the Honda motor the more the old adage about Honda engineering being backwards oddity sinks in. I took at a peek at the automatic box. I don't want to pull that to bits... ever

The Lifan is lighter and cheaper option without chopping the frame. Considering that all I had to do to get it in was drill two extra holes and add some brackets it was a great mod. It revs better. Sounds better. Goes harder.

Doesn't stall out. I took really good care of the Honda motor and it was still a fat cow that liked to stall randomly ( clutch on the way out ) and that is generally tired.

Unless someone can point me to a new CT-110 motor in a bag that comes as a manual instead of an automatic for less than 400$ Aus the Lifan wins hands down...

Problems

Having said that the problems with ADR/Rego are looming .... I may end up putting the Honda lump back in just to get it through the Rego process.

my postie is an 83 model and totally original and still going strong
