ok well today i went riding and my bike felt a bit crappy and bouncy and looked down and notice that i could see some rubber all peeled from the back rear shock bushes coming out and i could lift up the bike and there was a bit of freeplay coming from the swingarm well i did notice that the swingarm was loose but i have taken the shock and noticed the bushes are shot!!! i havent had my bike more than 4 months....do these usually last longer and where can i get new and better ones that will last and whats the price tag on these???

4 months is pretty good from stock bushes, ive seen some only last weeks or even days!!!

I get metal bushes spun up on the lathe for my shocks, that way you can get a 100% perfect fit,

But when using metal bushes you gotta make sure the shock is ligned up perfectly, because theres now no rubber to absorb any misalignment.

If its not aligned than you will end up cracking the shock mounts instead!

But if its all done properly than youll never have to worry about bushes again, ive had metal bushings in for 2yrs+ now, and its still tight as a drum:D

Finding replacement rubber bushings that are the correct diameter could be a pain,

Goodluck

yea like Thump said, get bearings for it, mine has em and there has been no probs so far luckily! i just keep mine clean, coat em in WD-40 and theyre good as gold.

So, are you guys talking about bushes in the shock - or bushes in the swingarm (where is attaches to the frame) I have an older random no-name bike (def' dodgy chinese) and need to replace the bushes on the swingarm (attaching to the frame) as they are frrrked. Chain keeps coming off as it is basically swinging side to side - as well as up and down.

So you reckon replace then with metal bushes or bearings? Is that right? I am in Sydney and looking to get this little sucker on the track again - any suggestions?

run a caged needle roller maybe? i cant see the pick so only guessing, you could also use a bronze bush they last quite well
