I do splash a bit on my gear. Not as much as some.
I think it should suit your riding. If you just cruise around paddocks, then a cheap lid will do. If you're racing competitively and risking your life, don't be a tight arse

Yeah that, but the best thing is how well they fit. Once you have worn one, you simply can't wear anything else.
