got the bike home late last night, its a runner (kick only, elec tart not working atm) but seems very low on compression compared to anything else i have kicked over. its not blowing smoke but im not to sure if its low on compression or these yx72cc engines are just low on compression naturally. poor thing was filthy, and i doubt had ever been serviced in its life :( I stripped it down to the frame today, and it needs some welding done, im trying to find the cradle mounts in aus but only seem to be able to find them in the us atm, but one way or the other il get the cradles and get a mate to help weld it all nice and solid.
if anyone has a low seat they have replaced with a tall seat, im keen on buying it to ;)
oh and the x4r swinger uses a far bigger diameter bolt so thats a no go to, will just try and free the bearings up in the current one and see how it goes.
will post pics as soon as photobucket pulls its head in

Chuck us your swing arm dimensions, I have that freshly painted pit pro one laying around...

seeing as photobucket is being gay, il just explain the rest of the pics for the cracks in the welds. basically every weld in that section needs grinding back and re welding

Ok the cat is sleeping on me atm sounds similar!! Ill measure it in a bit when this lump gets off me!

Also I was thinking low compression may be gaskets in the head or something or plug...also what size is the carby? The 125 Foxico had pretty low compression...19mm carby was causing that because the ducar in the tdr had a ton more comp with the 22mm carby!

Well looks like its 123mm inside I'm assuming it was 125 it had about 6 coats of enamle and a few coats of clear! uploadfromtaptalk1400224745471.jpg

They have pretty low compression to begin with, but I'd replace the piton and rings just so you know its good. That frame looks alot like mine, it had that many cracks through it, mine feels so much more solid with the new frame, plus I feel safer riding it, lol

how much do you want for the swingarm stu? i will just pack the gap out with washers... it does take a 8/9mm bolt yeah??

im going to buy the cradle kit blender and get my mate to weld it all up, should be a heap stronger. i might even brace it like the motovert frame as well. i will pull the engine down and see how the bore looks, i will be surprised if its not scored from the condition of the air filter...... that wont matter to much as i can see him riding it for all of a month before he demands the gpx ;)

ah crap...it takes a 10mm...stupid china! Looks like your soaking some bearings...Thats all pretty easy though!

The rear brake setups on those bikes need constant attention, mine siezed up after about 3 hours of owning the bike. Ever since then I just haven't gotten around to getting a caliper. Although, I love having back breaks on the 250.

What carb is it running?

yeah some horrible little carby. i have a couple of carbys from 125's that are only slightly bigger lying around, im thinking of cleaning one up and seeing if its any better. i wont get the cradles until the end of the month so not to much will be happening until they show up and/or i get enough cash up for a rebuild kit :)

Have you checked no one has tried to take the flywheel off with a bashing tool instead of an unscrewing tool?

Actually, i haven't. I will however lay five bucks on the flywheel having never been removed, simply due to the lack of maintenance performed on this bike by the previous owner/abuser.

Yep I'll take that and would you go me $5 on the mini wr beating the 65ktm copy in fifty of the month?? :grinning-smiley-003

lmao if i have to, but in all honesty your mini wr should beat that thing i put in anyway. i only put it in to make the numbers up. now when i finish the motovert framed 160 build i might just be keen on a bet ;)
