Guys and gals
I have been asked by a club to sus out the interest level in reviving some mini racing in nsw and particularly by clubs around the newcastle area.
the racing would be organised by the clubs that are motocycling nsw affiliated..
no individual person would be involved in the running or organising or the finances they would be run by the clubs for the racers.
Unlike the previous nsw series they would not offer prize money for any classes although some type of trophies would be on offer.
entry fees would be set and collected by the clubs price yet to be determined although i think it would be cheaper than the previous series , and mcnsw race day licences would also be required.
At the moment we are looking at 3 tracks so 3 rounds to the series.
Yet to be determined if it would be this year or next.
A high level of interest would need to be required so get your friends and yourself to register their interest on this post and we will then decide wether to proceed or not
thanks
clark

There is always interest but the key factor is money.. full blown race license costs just kill the many and your only left with the few. If there was a non-competive kids type pricing on the race lic this would attract more people..

Biggest thing with racing or any sort, asking for interest happen too often and not much is done. Better off just putting it out there and going race happening here , this is the date , this is the cost, classes are... and just make it happen, get flyers out to bike shops , online fourms and it will happen.. Too many clubs run on word of mouth and dont grow bigger because they dont get a simple flyer out to other area's.

Wise words!

mini racing needs to go back to mini tracks!!
No fun riding a big bike track on a 10"er
Just hav to look back at race series that worked and people came to and why?
There were on perpuse built mini tracks , they were non ma. and they worked, people turned up and wanted more of it..
Havnt done any of the races down NSW , but again i not going to travell 10hrs to to race my stocka on big bike track , that need a ma. lic on , i think alot a people are the same??
And from my yrs of racing is only a few people off the foroums, that would acually be at races.
Most off the mini racers i know stear clear of these foroums as they mostley full of wannabee gavins haha
So i think unless you can get one of these clubs to build a proper 50 track then were all stuffed!!
I know insurance is a bigg factor today with all the "what ifers" haha but gezz town next to us has lawnmower racing ? what goving body regulates that haha
My 2 bobs worth :)

Well obviously no club is going to build a mini track on the word of a few people that MAY race?? That's a silly idea. You need consistent numbers several years before they would even contemplate that at all!!

I say, stop whinging and race on what you can. Any racing is better than nothing. 50's on a big bike track may struggle but suck it up princess. Everyone is in the same boat.

I think if you even get 1 mixed class going it's a good starting point.

VCM started out like this and every year is getting better and better.

Yes MA license's aren't cheap but you don't here any of us complaining? It's not like it's $1,000 a year or anything.

This is your shot at getting some NSW racing going again, half of what killed it last time was bad luck with the weather and a whole lot of bench racers who never showed up oh plus ALL THE WHINGERS that were never happy no matter what was done!!

I say props to you clunky for getting proactive and making something happen. If they fall on the right dates I'm sure a few of us would think about coming up to show our support.

If they need sponsors too let me know. Might be able to jump onboard depending on the price. ;)

Nice work Clark! Im in mate, if i cant get my **** together to race then my hands up as a volunteer.

Wayne.

racing

The 1 one problem with you blokes that want a purpose built track is you's get bored with it. Tell me you's would race a 5 round series at the same track every years.
I can say that would not happen. After round 3 of the 1st year you's would be wanting the track changed or another track built. If we all turned up to all the tracks weather they be suited to our bikes or not it would show the clubs that we are keen and if they spent money we would back them.

To the ones whinging about license cost's. Quit the smoke's or give up drinking and gambling. Anyone with half a income could afford a full MA license. What is it?? $180 a year?? A trolley boy working 2 shifts a week could afford this.

We need to run a race meeting that will run regardless of numbers. If 12 turn up then the racing should happen. Us as rider's should do what we can to get our friends involved but it should not be up to us to have all the worry of the numbers.

I organised a ride day at MX central. That cost's $30. 25 people said on facebook or on here they would be there. 12 turned up. 6 of them where my mates I took. All of the NSW over35's riders from the high roller series were there. That says something there.

To the die hards. We will turn up to any style track in any state and complain about nothing.

LETS RACE

Same old argument..

I have to say any racing is better then no racing isnt true when its a 20+ hour drive plus the fuel plus the accommodation plus the entry fee oh and plus the extra day off work that you need ...(thats a friggin expensive weekend , that ive done to many times) and riding a 50cc on a big bike track with ruts bigger then your 10" wheels , isnt the most inviting thing , cmon....

If i didnt have a 12" there's no way i would of done half of the races i done in nsw last couple years..

I have taken my 88 to 1 of the races , and after the first race i parked it and just rode my lxr for the rest of the day ..

And thats the thing , the mini scene is in no way just midsize riders! thats just what it mite seem because of what i said up there^^

The mini scene is dead , it came its gone ... i need more fingers and toes to count how many companies have come and gone (real companies not importers..)

Theres just no way its coming back without them ..

Yer you mite get a bunch of open minibike classes scheduled in with a few big bike club days etc , but to the majority that's not mini racing..

Ill still do em , on my midsize tho ..

Ride the bush for crying out loud !!!! no turn is the same . Its actually a phyiscal test. Hills climbs that steep u dont know if ya gana live to see another day. Man vs machine on pit bikes !!!

Imo that isn't half as fun , bar banging on a tight track on equal performing bikes is the pinnacle of mini riding in my opinion :)

I agree with you entirely Woggy. Your one of the die hards. The money you have spent on your bikes and in travel would blow people away. If everyone was as dedicated as you the numbers would of been great for the races we had and the tracks would of built purpose built tracks.
For the people running the clubs its a business and they only spend money if they know they can make it so they are not going to shell out thousands on building and maintaining a track suited to mini bikes until they know they got the numbers to make it viable and to do that we have to turn up in big numbers, ride the un suitable tracks and give the clubs a reason to want to build a track.
MX Central was going to build a track to suit mini bikes if enough of us turned up to ride days on the big track and all that happened was people whinged where they were going to build the track and stopped going to the ride days.

I'm with you.
bush riding is for pensioners. Its no where near as physical as racing.
Racing is for adrenalin junkies.

+1 Bush riding is pretty average... Knowing a MX tracks every bump, getting it dialled, then giving every section everything youve got is fun as, then add in other fellas to test your skills against is the best...whether its just mates racing, or in a comp, sounds way more interesting to me...

It just comes down to $$$ and time for me...

But bush riding is as fun as bushwalks....

Going up a hill climb u have never seen before eva in ur life. Uv just seen 5 experianced riders only just get up it with their bigbikes !!! helmet cams on the go . U an the bush , ya bike an that hill. Is all u have. Everything is new an totally expected. None of this repeditive nonsense. Where i grow an grow n grow on the track . Make or break first time or fail. :) its the only way

for the ******* that think the big tracks are to hard, man up. theres 8 year olds out there clearing 50ft jumps on 65s which have a smaller weel than the pit bikes. even the 50's get out there and kill it. if your so worried about riding bigger tracks and its to much for you then you shouldnt be riding.
i think trying to get bigger clubs like lakes cessnock, maitlnd and even gwandalen is a great idea and i know many boys that would be keen to race in a minicross series.

as for the endure pioneer, minibikes arent that good in the bush, its not what they are desinged for and its simply boring. riding bar to bar trying to get first to the corner is the thrill not facing a hill that rips your back tyre and wears you out for little satisfaction.
