they change the advance curve of the ignition...
meaning it will be advanced higher at idle and up top.. some of these cdi's make for a kick back junkie engine.. be careful...

as for tuning, they dont do a real lot but maybe you could trial a larger main jet (1 or 2 sizes bigger)

they dont do anything for the rev limiter because there isnt one to start with..

Is your 140 stock mate coz there are much better performance parts than a cdi like a carby, exhaust, cam shaft ect ect you won really notice much a diff with just cdi

turbotobes - yeah it's stock mate. it came with race cam and when I bought it. Haven't done any upgrades yet. Might just have to get other performance parts as you've mentioned above instead of just the cdi. damn that's gonna cost. hahaha. Cheers mate.

sean - nah, it doesn't have an irk fitted.

If your looking along the lines of a cdi, I'd be going for something from the CF Posh range like a Mega Battle, Super Battle or thier top of the line Programable one Mega Light. Or even a Daytona Programable one.
Otherwise, you wont notice anythign really and your money would be better spent on other things.

hi barnesd09,
thanks for the info. will definitely check it out. i was also lookinga t the vortex programmable cdi but it's way too $$. something like 400-500 bucks for 1.

yeah mate i would get a carby first go an oko 26mm flatslide so many ppl use them and will be able to help you with the jetting there are threads to have a look at with heaps of info on them man. then get a good exhaust

Than your going to freak when you look into that link, the ones barnes is talking about will run you more than the vortex. Personally I wouldn't worry about a cdi if at all till you get a few other modifications such as porting, hc piston, bbk, exhaust, cam, blah, blah blah.
Maybe you should look into getting an outer rotor kit, they come standard with a cdi which you can change the curve on. Just a thought.

yeah i might just do that first, get some other mods before the cdi. no use getting the cdi first if it's not gonna do much. after all you guys probably know way more than I do. i'm still learning. might even look at the outer rotor kit and carby which turbo recommended. cheers guys.
