finally got around to tearing the top end off to inspect everything. more bad news for me as always :-( terry you were right about having a tic tic tic but not cause of tight squish but with valve to piston clearance. the exhaust were lightly kissing the piston and my worries about top ring land were also right on the money for being a worry. the top ring snuged up in its groove which caused he ring to start eating at the cylinder wall. damn my luck sucks. i have had it with trying to "make" a piston work so im going to do a custom run of pistons for this biotch and calling it a day. i'm going to try one more time getting a hold of wiseco if i dont get a answer JE will be getting my order. prolly 3 weeks for pistons to constructed since it ate the cylinder im going to break down and plate it which is another 2-3 weeks im looking at a fine month and a half before i might get something back to start assembling again. i guess i should look at the glass half full instead of half empty. my creation has started ran and for the short period of time i had it running even though not tuned my initial thoughts are prolly one of the strongest pitbike motors i have done yet. i rank it up with my takie dohc 50 motor i did years ago and it dynoed at almost 22. so it should be a runner once i get a piston that will work. i also can look at this as it gives me some time to possibly figure out kick start gears. which i have a lead or two on but trying not to get my hopes up.

Skip the BS and just go straight JE. Much better piston that Wiseco IMO.

Drink that half-full glass of ale, and get me one while you're refilling, eh:)

You learned a few things, had a few setbacks to help you learn even more..., and built one of the trickest one-off's around. No shame in that. Having to spend a few bucks on a slug will be worth it. Piston should be the last hurdle, besides start gears. Then we can move to the oil-filled 150R head, CR 6-speed horizontal in "stock" cases:banana:

Lol great minds think alike eh. I haven't had much time to look into it but john gave ne me a mid 80s cr motor that I been thinking if trying to use the guts out of

Damn that things a beast if I sent my wr400 motor ova and a blank check I'd get a custom jet engine back lol u guys do some nice stuff

blank check hmmmm the fun things i could do on someone else's dime lol. thank you dr frankie and i make a good team. he whispers sweet nothings in my ear i get all hot and bothered and then magic happens :)

so terry can i still take you up on the offer for kicking my dog? lol i sent the puck and dimensions off to JE today so i'll be sitting idle for a good while til i get parts back to assemble. in the mean time i decided to do a lil more poking around on this idea of a 150r top end w/ 6 cr tranny in a horizontal motor. im tinkering around with it me and my dog and my buddy shows up shortly follwed by my ole man. swear his mission in life is to chap my ass. anyhow so i'm sitting there explain the next mutant motor im going to to attempt and my dog decides he dont like the box i have laying on the ground with my conversion parts and starts shredding it. at first i didnt really pay much attention cause i was in a indepth explaination of what i was going to attempt til i seen a flash a red that looked mighty similar to my airfilter so i decided to see what the lil a-hole was doing. i look down and he is shaking the hell out of my airfilter for my bike. so i take it off him put everything back in the box and fold the flaps up. few mins later again he gets into it. so i put a piece of tape on it and that really pissed him off and took him a min to get it opened. at this point in time it became a amusement for us so i decided to shoot a lil video to bring some humor to what will be a boring thread for the next few weeks.

i must say JE has been one of the best companies i have dealt with in a long time. gotta be one of the first times i can say a company lyed to me and im stoked about it. pistons came in today and was told they would show up tues or weds of next week. so now all thats left is send the cylinder out to be plated and i can put her all together and get it off to the dyno

well got my cylinder back from plating yesterday as usual they have done a great job with it. however JE not so much im fit to be tied. i had some free time today so i went and mocked it up and clayed it. everything look great except the exhaust valve to piston clearance. i'm at a whooping .040-.045th clearance! i call je up mad as fock cause i sent them a cut piston a puck cam doctor read out and dimensions stating i want a bare min of .080th clearance then gladly spent 600 for 2 pistons just for it not to be what i wanted. after some talking it was well you can safely cut .030th more out of it. which gives me in the .070th range which is fine for this cam but i had high hopes of running a higher lift cam which is never going to happen now. then top it all off they tell me they can recut it i would have to do so or send it to machine shop. sure i can cut the pistons. but why in the hell do i want to start hacking on a $300 "CUSTOM" piston. that word custom is meant for it to be fitted for the application not have to mod it. and i cant help not to stop in think if i didnt have the ability to cut the pistons myself id have to have a machine shop do it and the machine shop near me would charge about 120 buck to cut these pistons. if you guys havent already guessed it im a little pissed off with JE

i got a good lil chunk done today. fixed my piston jig to accept skirtless pistons. cut .030th out the exhaust not as pretty as the cnc job that it came with but it'll do the job. now i have about .060-.065th when i clay. which isnt what i want but least i have enough clearance that i feel some what safe with. once i got it the ex notches cut i file fitted the rings and assembled. stuffed the motor then realized the angled top for my carb i purchased from sudco wasnt going to work so i had machine the top of the carb and make a insert so id have clearance for the throttle cable which turned into a well that was dumb lets try this deal. finally got that figured out and contiuned on. then found a mess of nic nac bolts i need to button it up. so tomorrow i'll order the bolts and nuts i need. in the mean time being i want to run a thumb throttle i'll have to machine a half moon spacer to space my front brake lever out for clearance. and as bad as i hate to i guess i could use the down time to put the seat cover and graphics on. god i hate doing either one. more so graphics than the seat cover.

looking good mate..
going by the looks of the clay thickness it looks bigger than 1.6mm clearance tho

Every time I read this thread I get in trouble with the GF for drooling on myself ;)

Just read this from start to finish ,wow what a build , i love that motor such a credit too ya , do u have an updated video of it running? Didu dyno it yet?
