I spose yeah.

Most learners ride a 250.

lol maybe I should get a postie and pimp it out. Paint it black and add chrome bits lol. And a decent exhaust so it doesn't sound like a crf50 LOL

get a 4 stroke for the road!
easier to handle etc. along dirt, 2 bangers are awsome, but along road dad said that it's very very bad.
plus mixing oil at service stations etc. if it has an auto mixer its no problem such as one or two 250 road bike but if not u will have to carry oil (hard on a dirtbike cos no luggage holer thingy) or measurer to calculate how much u need.

a ct110 wouldn't be too bad, as sid said, cheap and reliable. i mean, if u were riding it 2 school people would laugh, lol, but it's cheap, reliable, doesn't use much fuel and since they still sell them new and there's heaps of hem, if something breaks its easy to repair.
all up, i say:
ROAD: 4 stroke!
DIRT: 2 or 4 stroke.

that's just my 2c

pascal most bigger two strokes have there own oil holder
my brother is selling his agv250 2 stroke road bike if ur interested

You can legally ride a KLX650 on your L's, (SA)

so the people saying its 250cc max need to go check there details:D

My mate told me it's $317 for one test and $281 for another.

Do you still have to do a road rules written test and if you fail, do you have to pay all that money again?

Its 317 for the first BASIC training,

than 281 for the ADVANCED training,

Also its $25 for every 9 months you have just the learners permit (basic)

You gotta have your CAR L's for min of 6 months too in SA, so you can get it when your 16.5yrs old min.

250cc is the limit where your from? Harsh. I would hate to be riding a 125cc 2 stroke or 250f around on the road. You will be winding it out all day wanting more power.

Motoluver no sidney is in SA, so its power to weight rule we have here, in some models he can go up to a 650cc (KLX650 for example)

Youll need to have your CAR Learners for atleast 6 months, if your only like 16 years old,

but if your like 18yrs+ or if your not getting a car license you need to still do the CAR Learners written test (and pay) anyway and pass before you can sit for motorbike Learners!

oh ok. That kinda sucks but I guess it's fair.

I think I'll just get a postie because you can get a decent one for around $1000 and I can afford to mod one and get a car AND bike license.

do you NEED to take the advanced course?

You gotta take the Advanced course within 2 years of getting Learners,

and to answer your previous question you get 2 attempts at each course, fail any of them twice and you loose your money, and must repay to resit the test!

OMFG that is stupid!!! You could spend 1000's if you fail + you need a drivers license!!

Its 317 for the first BASIC training,

What?? Thats BS, unless the laws changed very recently. In SA you can get your motorcycle L's as soon as you turn 16, read the honda website.

In most other states its 17 or 18 and you need a car license.

If you fail it more than 2 times than you shouldnt be riding a bike on the roads!!!!!!! full stop:p

If you do not hold a licence, but have held a learner's permit for a period totalling at least 6 calendar months and you are at least 16 years and 6 months of age, you can apply for a Provisional Licence at any Customer Service Centre. You must have a South Australian Driver’s Licence endorsed with a motorbike class in order to ride a motorbike.

this is from the email i recieved, and yes i appoligise flarry i didnt type it correctly,

when r u 16 sidney?

in simple terms once you turn 16 you need to apply for your CAR LEARNERS first, pass it, pay for it, THAN STRAIGHT AWAY you can pay your $317 and book your BASIC BIKE TRAINING COURSE,

The basic training course has 2 sessions of 4 hours each. You will learn basic motorcycle operating and manoeuvring skills in a safe, off-road environment.

pass that and you have your L's,

THAN

you pay $281 in anytime up to 2 years and you go back and sit for your ADVANCED COURSE, The advanced training course consists of a 4 hour training session including a practical assessment.

completed $600 later

that rule is for when you apply for your second part of the test (advanced)

so at 16 you get your L's (car first than bike), and once your 16.5 you can get your advanced section completed!
