o ok, im looking into the liquid image cam i think they are 140 bucks, just dont have the cash for a gopro.
will it be detrimental to use a thin layer of silicone around my manifold adapter to seal the blasted thing? ive tried sanding it back and making up a thicker gasket but its still pulling air in.

some silicons can soften with fuel on them.

can you get o'rings where you are , try automotive/industrial, bearing shops ?

if you take yours as a sample you might be able to buy a thicker one?
even if it is only 1mm thicker, it is worth a try

or, do you have an old bike tube that you can cut up and try as a gasket ?

il try the bike tube idea that could work cheers craig :) o and do you no if there is a cdi upgrade available for the gpx engine? im looking to get a performance coil and figured if there is a better cdi out there id upgrade that to.... they run the same cdi as the 160ho

hey,
i noticed the link in you signature looks a bit untidy , lol
i posted this below in Blenders thread too.

if you want to add a link in your signature to this thread
copy the code in the address bar at the top of the screen in this thread.
then go into your Settings area,
scroll down to Edit Signature and click on it,
then in the text box write what you want your link to be called for example My Boys build
then left click on what you wrote and drag the cursor across the Title to highlight it
then click on the little picture of the world with the little link on it
it will bring up a box above the text box with a space to paste the url code you copied before to that, paste the link code there, then select ok.

finally select save signature down the bottom, and you are all done.

your link is now in your signature,
it might sound harder than it actually is, but if i can do it, then anyone can !!!

cheers, craig

so update on this little bike, in my immense block headedness i managed to kill the gpx, so im going to chuck the 160ho into this bike :) progress shots coming up soon.

mmm, should add an extra bit of sting in its tail!! perhaps a little too much ??
what happened to the gpx ?

yeah, bent valve and crack in piston. i have the 160 lying round doing nothing so figure i might as well use it :) and i dont reckon it will have all that much more power, just a bit more torque blender :)

crack in the piston?? do we get to see some gruesome engine injury shots ? ;)

look foward to seein you boy on the 160 breathing fire :)

so went to start the engine transplant today and have run into a snag. the inlet manifold is to high for the little motovert frame, have major clearance issues with the fuel tank and top of carb. i have tried a 26mm oko the weird jing ke carb that came with it (around 28/30mm) and even the little 22mm mikuni of the braaap. all have issues, and the daytona manifold i have hear wont work with it either. so.... is there a shorter manifold the guys running these engines in the 50 frames use?
will see if i can find the pics of the gpx piston just for you to blender ;)

i was thinking you may actually have some clearence issues, ifr its the manifold im thinking of, they are quite tall. whats the ID of the manifold ?

look foward to them piccies :deadhorse:

can you file the manifold holes out to slots, so you can turn it to face outwards a bit ?

i could try that, and will, but not sure if i will be able to get it far enough round to solve the problem. your right blender its the height of the manifold causing trouble, i have two shorter ones here that line up with the holes but the angle is all wrong. this transplant might be a bit of a pain in the proverbial......

ooracing have a couple too, custom angled to suit the 160's etc

will the yx manifold work on a z160? i found one with oo that might work, but it said for yx160 and didnt mention the z motors. that third manifold would work with a thick heat resistant spacer, i have one here, but cant seem to find where to buy more. not the plastic ones, the other ones that almost look like they are made from asbestos. could you point me in the direction for one of those?
