To many beers for this...but Ill try! Sounds like maybe air in the lines, that will make things lock on, but if so you're close! Wont be anything wrong if it all lines up like this!

Try this...if that doesnt work you'll have to try bleed again! basically you want nothing but fluid coming out the bottom...this method plus tapping the brake lines at the same time work well for air locks in the front...havnt had to try it on the rear yet!

So there's the set up, reason I was thinking spacers was, if I tighten the nuts as tight as I can, which I thought I would have to, the wheel hardly spins, definately doesn't spin freely. When I loosen the nuts a bit, 1/2 turn it spins freely......

AHHHHH!!!! couldn't work out why i was singing brittney spears in my head all morning.... F U and F this thread...

That is all :) Also if the wheel doesn't spin freely when done up, it may also be stuffed wheel bearings.

is your rear caliper sitting square to the disc ?
so the gap between the outer disc pad to the disc at the back is the same gap at the front

i would probably try and find a washer or a spacer maybe 2mm or 3mm thick to try out with the other spacer between the swingarm and the caliper bracket

also,
is the front of that caliper bracket bolted to the swingarm,
or does the caliper mounting plates' slot just sit over a lug on the swinger ?

The mounting plate just slots over the lug at the front.... The gap between the disc and the pad is the same at both the front and back.... So u think maybe a smaller spacer between the bracket and swing arm? Ok.... I'll see what I can do

no, make it a bit thicker by adding a washer in there as well.
when looking at that pic from the rear of the caliper, you can see the inner disc pads are touching the disc
this might be what is causing the drag

also when you bled the brakes,
both disc pads should be sitting about .1mm - .5 mm off the disc when the brake is released.

Ok... Thanks, will throw another spacer or washer in there and see how it goes and re bleed the brakes... :)

Tried putting some washers in today, started small, like 1mm and increased up to a 5mm spacer..... The wheel was the same regardless what spacer was going in there, worried maybe the axle is bent slightly as when tightening the nuts, the wheel wobbles up and down as the axle is tightening.... Dunno, I had to leave her behind today wheb we went riding cause I didn't want to take it out and do more damage :(

Will get my mechanic mate to have a look at it tomorrow and see what he reckons :(

the other caliper that you fitted that is on it now,
does it have the matching bracket and spacer off the bike it came from originally ?

after you've bled the brakes, are both disc pads now touching the disc?
and is it still dragging?
if it is the inside disc pad that is dragging, you might need a shorter inside spacer ?
the one between the hub and the caliper mounting bracket might need to be a couple of mm's shorter

It has the bracket from the bike it was originally on, but used the existing spacers that were on my bike...

The pads seem to be sitting a bit better after bleeding them again, the inside pad is still dragging a little bit.... But not enough to really be stopping the wheel from spinning as badly as it is...

Ok, will try a few different spacing arrangements tomorrow to try and cut the drag.....

Are the axle sizes the same? like 15mm axles and 15mm brakes for the rear? What axle size do you have? Could be a 15mm rear brake on 12mm axles..would be causing some play?

Don't know what the other axle was as I just inherited a frame with brakes attached to it.... I haven't even checked what size this axle is either.... Maybe a 12??

is there any slop on the wheel side to side when the back wheel is off the ground? wondering if its got a 12mm axle in a 15mm axle hub..... might sound ridiculous but i have seen three bikes with that problem already lol

No, the wheel is pretty straight, and when it spins it doesn't seem to rock side to side at all, the caliper and bracket looked exactly the same, the one I took off and the one I put on.... I just keep sitting there looking at it trying to figure it out, it's like a jigsaw puzzle.... I'm sure when I figure it out, I will be like 'Doh....

Oh and I found a $2 tripod at the cheap shop that fits my cheap go-pro perfectly....so I'll get a brake bleed vid up in the next 24hrs...and a valve clearance vid too!! Damn good set up on your Trailer there....sure you dont have the coin to come down to Morgan SA next weekend? According to Google maps its only a 22.5hr drive....

I recon you guys would round the group off quite well  jokes thats a huge drive....even for two people!

Haha, I had some mates do the round trip in a mini bus from Adelaide to here and back last year, took them 3 days each way, not a bad effort!

I'd love to drive over for a ride /camp out, but my partner would hate it, he hates car trips! Haha

Nah I was seriously joking thats a huge drive, even 2hrs for me is pushing it, so I feel his pain!!! We'll have to find a property somewhere in around south western NSW...then it will be a pretty even for Victoria, NSW and SA.....although as far as my hunting experience goes, there isn't much out there except roos, pigs and bulldust....
