So today I finally removed a bolt holding the bash plate on that the head was stripped, vice grips.... Yes, had to borrow some, and an easy out..... Not as easy as it sounds. Very happy, so now I can add some more bling to my bike, after an oil change tomorrow :). I also got my new pilot jets for the carby, so will pop those in and see how it all runs. Finally seems to be coming together, also just changed the clutch lever, it was broken, so my first clutch lever, done and dusted! Yay, the small things. Still haven't had time to look at the wheel/brakes, but that is the last thing that needs doing and then it's all finished..... I could do a lot more with it to make it pretty and stuff, but I'm just gonna go ride it in the mud anyway :) and I'm not that good of a rider, so it will prob be pretty scuffed in no time ;) she def won't win any FOTM comps anytime soon lol!

Has a China bike ever won 50 of the month? I could put the mini wr in as its pretty much finished now, but even that has no hope....its not an lxr and its not Japanese and it only has an almost stock 125 in it....don't get to caught up buying bling! Just more expensive stuff to break imo

Well levers came in today, and air filter, and the twin spar tank has a crack in it...so drop the z160ho into the WR clone....bling levers, bling frame seat and plastics....still got no chance to a sinister 50.... :(

Has any one ever got it with a peewee ? I will enter when it's back together :)

Craig.....aka my67xr posted up his sons, freaking worked at shi-te PW50 and it came 5th, probably the best PW50 ive ever seen, reliable, strong, very nice looking.....so yeah maybe, because its in SA and all! My arm may be twisted to enter the wr clone....but I'm not super popular and winning a photo comp certainly wont make it go any faster so it seem slightly pointless to me! :grinning-smiley-003

Sooooo still working on this carby, tuning it, it seems to still be revving quite high, I have it at the lowest idle point before it just cuts out and it's kinda making some popping noises from the exhaust, not backfiring but popping, so I'm assuming it's getting too Mich air still.... Kinda sick of pulling the carby off each time I need to adjust the fuel mix screw, was looking at getting a carby spinner on eBay last night and thought it would be a good investment, but then realised I'd have no idea how to use one!

Anyway, I took a quick vid of my bike idling to show how high its revving and the popping sounds it's making.... I'll see if the vid works when I post itPit bike idle too high and popping:

Meh, I'm starting again now.... Going right back to 1 & 1/2 turns and starting from scratch....

So while I have the carby off again, doing my adjustments, I thought I'd have a look at the jets, I ordered a new #25 jet and it was totally different to the jet in my carby so I've been trying to tune it with the one that was in it..... But thought I'd better make sure I was looking at all the right jets.

So here is a pic of the carby with the bowl off and mixture screw out.....

Here is a pic with the pilot jet out

And a pic of the jet out of my carby at the top and the #25 I ordered..... Totally different....

Rikchik, Did you get the rear brake sorted ? I had to transplant a different rear caliper onto my sons FMR during the rebuild. Involved plenty of shuffling of washers and spacers to get the alignment of both the disk brake and the much forgotten about chain alignment with the sprocket.

As for the jet, looks like the one you ordered is a slow jet for a Keihin etc see here Amazon.com: Keihin Slow Jet 35: Automotive
....not that I like quoting amazon for reference, but the jet is the same as those in the Keihin on a crf230 I rebuilt recently for a friend. By memory you said your carb was a 30mm Mikuni....the jets are very different.

If you want a second opinion/third set of eyes on the bike I'm only up the Gold Coast and like nothing better than an excuse to take the Speed triple for a run down the tweed valley. Happy to help.

Hey, I did order the jet from DHZ and it was specified as a mikuni 25 pilot jet, so cause I don't know that much about them, I just got it and looked at it and went, well that ain't right! Hahaha.

All my alignment with the rear brakes, disc and chain are all good, so I'm assuming all the spacers are now in the right position, I've been told that the reason it may not be spinning freely is the spacers may be creating friction on the bearing from being in the wrong way, so that's my next job, pull the whole rear off again and try swappping the spacers around the other way....

Thanks for the offer of help man, I might actually take u up on that one day, we come up the goldy all the time!

Just had another look at the jets cause they are slightly different....., heres another pic, its exactly the same...Keihin 22 series.

But then there is this ...

Either way, the ones you have are wrong for the carb you have....yeah I know, 'no sh*t Sherlock'. Best check the exact model of carb you have and send em back for replacements. Usually on VM Mikuni the model is around the edge of the intake bell. Should be two sets of numbers. Take a pic and we can help decipher it.

Yeah, I'm kinda over it hey, just looking to see if I can get a whole new carby, the jet that my carby has in it, I can't seem to find anywhere, and it's not a genuine mikuni, it's a jingke which is a rip off of a mikuni so it obviously needs smaller jets, but I can't get the same ones, so for all the effort it's taking me, I'm thinking of splashing out and paying $50 for a China mikuni with the jets I need already in it!

Agree the OKO would be the best bet. If you dont want to cash up for it I am awaiting my OKO30 for my 250, once its here I have a VM26 you can borrow/use/have at a steal. I was going to put it on the boys FMR but he wants to leave it alone now its tuned and running sweet.
Will need to rejet it too, but its easy since its a genuine/genuine copy of a mikuni vm26. Has the metal slide etc so if its not original its pretty damn close and its easy as p*ss to tune. Just an option.
