Thanks, Will there be any performance upgrade at all? I think it's working fine now and I don't want to spend a lot more money on this bike

well you could just leave it then, run it with what is on it

Yeah, I wouldn't mind trying to buy that MotoVert with the PitPro engine in it that you put on the eBay Bargains thread.

That could be my run around bike for down the road and I could try and get the DR250 running for when I go camping and stuff

Actually I didn't fix the ignition... It's still not working

Can i replace just the Coil because i've had a look and the coil is soldered/glued onto the leads into the CDI.
I can't just unplug the coil from the CDI because everything is grouped into one big wiring loom.

Can I replace the coil alone or will I need to replace the CDI and Coil?

shouldn't be soldered, there should be a plug that joins it to the loom

Ignition came yesterday and i've got it on and so far it's good.

I would like to tune the carby today since I have the day off... Does turning the air/fuel screw clockwise (Screwing it in) make it run richer or leaner?

I screwed it out hoping to lean it but I get a really burnt fuel smell

screwing it in will make it richer, the bst way to remember is that its the opposite of a tap. turn it anti-clockwise to get less fuel in, and clockwise to put more fuel in.

Thats strange, Because I swear I was turning it out and I got more of a fuel smell than when it was turned in

Do I need to adjust something else? I turned it out about a turn and now it won't idle

Edit: Now when I start it up it blows white/blue smoke... I always thought I was running my bike rich because every time I take out the plug it's black from all the carbon...

did you use the idle mixture adjustment method i posted earlier in this thread?
eg first raise the idle speed, then listen to the engine as you adjust the mixture screw etc etc

Can't adjust the mixture screw because I don't have a screwdriver small enough to get under the engine and turn it...

And it's not running now anyway, Not getting spark again. And I accidently just pulled the copper plug off the green ignition lead that connects the coil to the engine while trying to remove it.

What else could be broken thats not giving it spark?

put a multimeter set to volts ac,
across the 2 wires that come from the cdi to the coil (black w/yellow stripe and green)
kick it over and tell me what it reads.

which green wire did the terminal come off? pics ?

you cant tell anything by the plug colour unless you have just pulled it out after turning the engine off at wot in 3rd or 4th gear for 30 seconds or so.

if it idles, or starts and runs, the spark plug will be dark/black

As you can see the green wire poking out is the one attached to the Coil, And the other one that has the connector attached runs into the engine

I've got another idea...
I've still got the old coil so perhaps I can cut the wire before the connector on the old one and then solder it onto the new wire that the connector has broken off

Or just silder then end that broke off back to the green wire again

I'll try soldering part of the old coil first, Because i'm not very good at soldering so I don't want to stuff up the engines wiring and also it'd be good to remove it easily and not be fully soldered together

Will my carby be a 26mm, And wouldn't the spinner muck around with how it runs and the float?
I know I wouldn't leave it on and only use it to tune it but will it still run okay?

Yeah it wont make any noticable difference to the way it runs.
